About me |
How I became a Novelspot Reviewer |
Stories and how they’re told have always captivated me. In fact, I created stories since before I could write. Mix that in with a love for travel and soccer and you’ve go me in a nutshell. Currently, I live in outside Chicago and pay the bills as an advertising copywriter. I never leave the house without something to read and something to write on. |
I travelled to Japan for a friend’s wedding. There, I met one her State-side friends, Julie, who recommended this site! |
My taste in books: |
Favorite authors: |
I’m a moody reader. I’ll read a news article about the middle east and have an intense need to read everything, fact or fiction, I can about it. Or I’ll get on a classics kick and read one of those authors you hear all about but have never actually read. Or, sometimes, I’ll just be in the mood for a good mystery.: |
I hate this question. There are so many great authors out there…and even more that I haven’t discovered yet. Here are two books that pop into my head when you asked that questions: “Year of Wonders” by Geraldine Brooks and “Mama Day” by Gloria Naylor. |
What makes a book a keeper? |
What makes me throw a book at the wall? |
Characters. If I love the characters, I’ll follow them anywhere. |
Flat characters and plots that make no sense. |
My favorite genre and why? |
My least favorite genre and why? |
I tend toward literary rather than genre, but if the plot sounds interesting and the characters are engaging, I’ll give it a go! |
I love sci-fi movies and TV shows, but I struggle through sci-fi books. I don’t know why. |

Other than NovelSpot? I check news.bbc.co.uk and nytimes.co almost every day. If you want a caustic look at advertising (what pays my bills), check out copyranter.blogspot.com. |
I get a lot of reading done during my lunch hour, so my favorite “snack” would be whatever I pack for that day. When I read at night, I usually just drink tea, hot chocolate or coffee. |
