___________________________________________

I'm a writer and teacher. I've got a husband, teenage son and a wonderful dog (who listens to me more than the husband and son) that I love to cook for.

I'm an English teacher by trade and read a lot. Might as well write about what I read!

My taste in books:

Favorite authors:

I need humor. I'll pass that up if it's a history subject I'm interested in. I also love true tales of haunted places and vampire stories (fictional vampires--as long as they're nice).

Dave Barry, Karen Brichoux, Naturally, other writers who are also friends of mine: JC Wilder, Rosemary Laurey, Marshall Cook.

What makes a book a keeper?

What makes me throw a book at the wall?

What makes you like a book? When an author grabs me from the first page and keeps me there with strong descriptions and good, solid writing. And having it autographed.

Lots of unnecessary backstory or when I don't care about the characters. Grammatical mistakes. Can't help it---it's the English teacher in me. Good thing I have strong walls.

My favorite genre and why?

My least favorite genre and why?

Romance and Nonfiction. I know that's two, but I love them equally. In romance, chick lit, contemporaries and historicals are my favorite. In nonfiction, history and self-help/writing/psychology books.

Horror. I read a lot of Stephen King as a kid, which scared the daylights out of me. After 'It', I have to check under my bed and in the sewer drains before I can sleep. I still have nightmares.

My bathroom library:

My to be read list:

Nothing. My husband and son hog all the space with Sports Illustrated and Golf Digest. I might have a workout magazine or two in there.

Too many to mention. I'm bad at making lists and not following through. I do want to read the DaVinci Code, though, as it came highly recommended.

My favorite links:

My favorite reading snack:

jibjab.com, bn.com, godiva.com

Whatever I can sneak upstairs that the dog won't beg for.
